Vegetable-tanned leather, as the name suggests, is leather tanned using **vegetable tannins**. It's a general term for leather that undergoes a preservation process using plant-based tannins. It is the **oldest and most traditional method of leather tanning**. This type of leather is characterized by its initial **light, skin-like color**. Over time, with exposure to sunlight, usage, air, and moisture, it gradually deepens in color, transforming into shades of caramel or even darker, making your leather goods more beautiful and lustrous with age. We select leathers that **undergo no surface treatment**. Just like human skin, cowhide naturally has **grain patterns and occasional scars** from its life. Surface treatments are akin to makeup, concealing all imperfections. Therefore, leather with a **poor surface condition typically requires surface treatment**. For everyday storage, keep your leather goods in a cool, well-ventilated area to prevent excessive moisture and mold.
