1882 Tiffany & Co. Olympian Series
Greek Mythology "Apollo and the Muses" Custom Christmas Blessing Teaspoon
—— Mythology in relief, held in the palm of your hand, preserving holiday memories from 1882 ——
This is more than just a teaspoon; it's a miniature silver sculpture from the pinnacle of the 19th century. Originating from Tiffany's iconic Olympian series, it distills classical mythology and master silversmithing into the palm of your hand.
▍The Imprint of Christmas 1882
The back is elegantly engraved with "Dec 25 ’82," clearly pointing to Christmas Day, 1882.
In antique collecting, "specific dates" are exceptionally precious—this is no longer just history, but a tangible warmth and blessing that can be imagined.
▍The Legendary "M" Mark: A Symbol of the Golden Age
The "M" mark on the handle represents the period under Tiffany's legendary Artistic Director, Edward C. Moore (1873–1891).
This was a golden era for the brand's craftsmanship and aesthetics, with a level of refinement and artistic height far surpassing later works.
▍Apollo and the Muses: An Exquisitely Detailed Miniature Narrative
Within the scale of approximately 12.1 cm, a complete mythological scene unfolds:
・Front: Apollo and the Muses in artistic competition, with lifelike details in drapery, posture, and musical instruments.
・Back: A laurel wreath and flying birds symbolize honor and abundance, transitioning to a Pan/Satyr mask below.
This level of full decoration is found only in early, high-end pieces.
▍Gilt Details: The Ritual of Afternoon Tea
The interior of the spoon bowl retains its original thin layer of gilt wash.
This not only prevents oxidation but also adds a delicate texture and lustrous layer when enjoying preserves or tea bites.

This is history that can be held in your hand, and a brilliant epitome of Tiffany's craftsmanship.
Overall, the condition is good, and it is functional for normal use. However, due to its age, there are natural signs of use visible on the surface, and the gilt layer on the spoon bowl shows some wear, all of which are normal for an item of this age.
Please ensure you can accept the aforementioned conditions before purchasing. All sales are final; returns or exchanges will not be accepted. We appreciate your understanding.
————————
These teaspoons are often repurposed into Tiffany sterling silver rings and are hailed as the "pinnacle of Tiffany tableware modification." Their exquisite, violin-like curves and continuous reliefs are naturally suited to become elegant bands for the finger. Tragically, this irreplaceable beauty has become their fate. Countless similar pieces have been forced to bend and break under fire and hammer, transforming from elegant tableware into rings. This has led to a gradual decline in the number of these high-end items due to damage. This inherent fragility makes each complete piece that has miraculously survived to this day an increasingly rare and solitary echo in the fragments of civilization.
—————————————————————
The Olympian series is one of Tiffany & Co.'s classic early silverware patterns, circulated from the late 19th to the mid-20th century, and is now discontinued.
The tableware bears Tiffany & Co. and "sterling" hallmarks. Based on the pattern and hallmark characteristics, it is presumed to be a piece from the antique period, for collection reference.
