Guinomi / Kirisakura

This product, Guinomi / Kirizakura, is a product based on the traditional Yarai. Originally, we started trial production as an orthodox and beautiful facet as "Guinomi / Yotsuyarai", which is the original and standard of the four Yarai. The calculation of dividing 16 equal parts into 4 parts was too complicated to cut, and when I made a mistake and made 3 parts, I found that 5 petals came out. When I saw the petals, I intuitively thought it was a cherry blossom. The time to make this is mid-February. Spring is waiting for me soon, so I wanted to make the theme of cherry blossoms, so I decided to leave the design of Palisade for a while. In addition, it was based on four Yarai, but if it is only the size of the gui, it is better to reduce the number of lines so that the colored part and the cut part are in harmony and look beautiful, so we adopted double Yarai with fewer lines. We are here. Based on the prototype, this time I adjusted it into 15 equal parts from the beginning to fit the 3 divisions so that the 5 petals would appear neatly and consistently. However, when you look at the other cuts of the cherry blossoms with the five petals in the center, it seems that they are blurred and lose their shape and disappear into the fog. The cherry blossoms that appear and disappear in the fog, only this Gui is named "Kirizakura". Kiri-zakura is also a cherry blossom that is expressed by Kiriko, and Kirizakura that omits the child, and it is a double-meaning of "fog" and "kiri". The word "cut" has the meaning of "polishing" as well as the meaning of cutting. "Kiri" is used to mean to work hard, to be important, and to polish together. Knowing that, Kirisakura is manufactured while asking the purchaser to improve his or her life. Even though the beautiful cherry blossoms are visible as an image, they seem to disappear in the fog, but they continue to chase the cherry blossoms so that they do not disappear, just like life. It is up to me in the future whether the cherry blossoms will become illusions and disappear into the fog, or whether the cherry blossoms will bloom clearly with my own power. The Kiriko of our workshop is polished using the traditional method of Edo Kiriko, "hand polishing", which maintains the strength of the glass and finishes it with high quality. On the other hand, there are some things in the world that polish the glass while immersing it in an acid called "acid polishing" and melting the entire glass into pieces. Acid-polished ones have the disadvantages of being easily scratched and the color may fade, but since the man-hours can be reduced and the price can be sold at a low price, sales will improve, so many workshops and writers perform acid-polishing. We are here. Since the cut surface of our workshop is polished one by one, the original strength of the glass is not lost, and you can wash it with a detergent or scrubbing brush.
