Crafted from coarse red clay, it offers a comforting, earthy warmth characteristic of pottery. After being formed into a charming, rounded shape, it's adorned with an engraved pattern reminiscent of agapanthus blooms. The entire piece is fired with a simple, matte glaze, and the engraved lines are then hand-painted with overglaze enamel for a refined finish. Its pleasingly rounded, endearing form fits comfortably in your hands, the cup's curves nestling naturally in your palms. The interior boasts a pale hue, allowing the subtle colors of clear beverages like sencha green tea or black tea to be fully appreciated. All stages of creation—from kneading the clay to forming, bisque firing, glazing, and final firing—are meticulously done by hand in my home studio, equipped with a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel. Please note that due to the thicker construction required for the engraved pattern, this yunomi is slightly heavier than others. To address this, all our ceramic ware undergoes a waterproofing treatment with a food-safe sealant before shipping, eliminating the need for initial soaking (mezome). This treatment requires 2-3 days, which is why our shipping window is set at 5 days from order placement. If you prefer not to have the waterproofing treatment applied, please inform us at the time of purchase. - The color of the glaze may appear whiter under natural morning light or white LED lighting, and exhibit more reddish or yellowish tones under evening light or warm-toned lamps. - Cutlery shown in product images is not included. - While we strive to capture product images as accurately as possible through photography and editing, colors may appear differently depending on your monitor settings and ambient lighting conditions.
