At such moments, I calmly reply, "Today, we only have bergamot, no 'qian'..." (A knowing smile...) Among citrus essential oils, Bergamot stands out as an anomaly. Most citrus oils derive their characteristic notes from terpenes, lending them uplifting and invigorating properties, like Sweet Orange, Lemon, and Grapefruit. Bergamot, however, is distinguished by its primary component: esters. Esters are aromatic compounds associated with warmth, possessing the ability to soothe the mind and uplift emotions. Consequently, Bergamot essential oil is suitable for use before sleep, and when blended with True Lavender essential oil, its sleep-promoting effects are enhanced. Diffusing Bergamot essential oil at your desk during work can also invigorate the spirit and stabilize emotions, often earning praise from colleagues.
