In the East: During Japan's Edo period, clam shells were adorned with *maki-e* lacquer and gold leaf. These beautiful shells and shell containers were part of the dowries for the wives of imperial nobles and feudal lords, symbolizing wishes for marital harmony. Embracing these auspicious meanings, we use natural scallop shells as our canvas.
