They are dark green and covered in dense, white, feather-like spines. The areoles have long white wool, and there are 40 radial spines, each 0.3-0.7 cm long, which are grayish-white or white. The White Star cactus flowers in winter with small, white blossoms that have brown or red central veins. Seeds are brown, and pollination requires cross-pollination. The White Star cactus is generally an easy-to-care-for variety, but it's essential to pay attention to temperature and watering. | Soil | The soil mix for the White Star cactus is quite simple. The bottom layer uses perlite mixed with peat, with added vermiculite and granular cinders. The ratio is flexible, prioritizing aeration. The surface is covered with granular pumice. | Watering | This variety is not very tolerant of intense sun, and its roots are prone to rot. Therefore, the soil should be well-aerated and fast-draining. Water thoroughly when the soil is completely dry during the growing season; for mature plants, use water sparingly. Only water when the soil is very dry, and always water thoroughly. Don't be afraid to water deeply because you fear root rot, leading to infrequent or insufficient watering. Avoid pouring water directly onto the crown, as poor ventilation can cause water to pool at the growing point, leading to rot. | Summer & Winter Care | The White Star cactus experiences a slight dormancy in summer. The plant needs partial shade and good ventilation. From July to September, during high temperatures, keep it in a cool, well-ventilated area. From September to December, water only when dry. Throughout the cold winter, if temperatures drop below 5°C, refrain from watering. Although winter is the growing season for the White Star cactus, minimal water can prevent frost damage and root rot. The White Star cactus can tolerate low temperatures when the soil is dry. In spring, watering should be gradual, and pay attention to weather changes. 📝 Key Care Notes: Hardy and resilient, it thrives in ample sunlight but dislikes harsh, direct sun.
