The commemorative incense sticks you purchase at these temples are also carefully prepared by Sho-do. All incense products are handcrafted in Kyoto workshops, adhering to ancient techniques. Furthermore, Sho-do's entire range of products, from censers to small incense holders and personal incense pouches, are made in Japan using only the finest materials. Despite Sho-do's considerable renown both in Japan and internationally, the company maintains a strict policy with only nine directly managed stores across Japan, deliberately avoiding an expansion of sales points or the use of franchise systems to ensure the highest quality of products and services. For its overseas outlets, Sho-do rigorously vets the business philosophy and practices of each distributor, and intentionally limits the number of official distributors to preserve its century-old reputation.
