In the first century BC, China was the first to use heat in the process of ironing cloth, using long-handled metal pots filled with charcoal. Heated irons were not used in Europe until the 17th century. Since then, flat irons have been produced in various sizes and weights for different types of fabrics and garments.
Cast-iron irons, known as [Sad Irons] because they were heavy and strong (Old English sad), could be used to smooth linens for the home, the hotel industry, or the production of tailoring garments. It is placed directly in the furnace, and the base plate needs to be cleaned before each use. Since the heat of the flat iron is lost quickly, a household needs at least two irons to ensure that one of them is always heated.
