A truly natural, non-toxic wooden cutting board depends on selecting solid wood that is dense and rich in natural oils, paired with the correct natural, physical methods to prevent cracking. Some wooden cutting boards have chemical lacquer or anti-crack glue applied to the edges to prevent drying and splitting. These substances do not merely coat the surface; wood fibers act like a bundle of tightly packed straws.
