**Artist Biography: Xie Zhong-Ren**
1973 Born in Fangyuan Township, Changhua County
1988 Studied jade carving techniques in Taipei
1993 Pursued advertising design in vocational school, integrating design concepts into his work
1994 Established his own studio
2000 Awarded "Excellent Work" in the Crafts category at the 14th Nan Ying Art Exhibition for "Waiting for the Right Moment."
August Participated in a joint jade and stone exhibition at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
2001 Invited to the Hualien International Art Festival for live carving in the local creation zone.
2002 Selected for the 10th Taiwan Craft Design Competition, "Dream of Craftsmanship." January: Joint jade and stone exhibition at the Hsinchu County Cultural Affairs Bureau.
May: Joint exhibition of carved jade and stone at the "Flower and Tree Carnival" in Changhua County.
October - December: Invited by the Shin Kong Cultural Foundation and Hualien Cultural Affairs Bureau for the "Stone Garden" exhibition at Shin Kong Mitsukoshi department stores nationwide.
2003 Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute to exhibit works such as "Lotus Ecological Charm" at the Presidential Office's "Taitung Local Crafts Exhibition."
2004 March - June: Featured in the National Education Radio's "Arts and Culture Corridor - Xie Zhong-Ren Jade and Stone Carving Exhibition."
Selected for the 12th Taiwan Craft Design Competition, "Dream of Craftsmanship."
October - January 2005: Solo exhibition at the Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall.
2005 Invited by the National Taiwan Museum to exhibit the indigenous carving "Taiwanese Delicacies - Braised Pork Rice."
June - September: Collaborated with the National Museum of the Czech Republic for the "Face of Europe Exhibition."
Established the brand "Yu Ning Shi" and opened a counter in department stores.
Mid-December: Exhibited at the Pacific Sogo Department Store's "Craft Master" exhibition.
2007 Invited to participate in the "Crafts at Your Fingertips - Application of Living Crafts Exhibition" at the Executive Yuan Gallery, organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute.
2008 Work "Japanese-Style Nigiri Sushi" was selected for the National Taiwan Craft Research Institute's "Taiwan Craft Competition."
2012 Received an Honorable Mention in the Traditional Crafts category at the Ministry of Culture and National Taiwan Craft Research Institute's "Taiwan Craft Competition" for the work "Half Thought." Awarded an Honorable Mention in the Crafts category at the 21st Tainan City "Nan Ying Award" for the work "Tranquil Mountain and Water."
2013 Exhibited at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall for the "Cross-Strait Jade Carving Exchange Masters Gathering," invited to display in the Taiwanese Jade Carving Masters Zone.
2016 Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit at the Presidential Office Gallery as part of the "Hearth - Sustainable Craft Exhibition," featuring three works: "Japanese-Style Nigiri Sushi," "Handmade Small Mochi," and "Leaping Moment."
2017 Work "Lingering Autumn Willows" received an honorable mention at the Taoyuan City Taoyuan Art Exhibition.
2018 Held the solo exhibition "Xie Zhong-Ren's 30 Years of Jade Carving - The Continuation of Culture" at the Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall.
2019 January - June: Invited by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute to exhibit the work "Auspicious Dragon Presenting Blessings" at the Presidential Office Gallery's "Feast · Happiness" exhibition.
2020 Featured in the "Joyful Heart, Shining Art - Taiwan Craft Development Association Boutique Exhibition," held jointly at the Hsinchu County Government Cultural Affairs Bureau (July 29 - August 16) and the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute Taipei Contemporary Craft Design Branch (October 6 - February 11, 2021).
2021 October - November: Exhibited the work "Japanese-Style Nigiri Sushi" at the "Creative Regeneration Green Crafts" exhibition organized by the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.
The work "Handmade Small Mochi" was selected for the 2021 Taiwan Craft Competition and toured at the National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute Taipei Contemporary Craft Design Branch, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Xinyi Store, Shin Kong Mitsukoshi Tainan Ximen Store, and Taichung Store.
