This piece is a collaboration with Hakka Kiln, whose pottery is crafted in Imari City, Saga Prefecture.
We paired obsidian with a round pottery shard featuring white and black Mishima patterns.
Although the pottery fragment is a calming black with a traditional Japanese design, it also resembles a floral pattern.
After applying the Mishima patterns, the kiln artisans meticulously hand-carved each piece into a circular shape before firing.
Kintsugi is applied to the sides of the pottery fragment, allowing the gold to elegantly shine through from the side, adding a touch of sophistication.
We invite you to wear these as a focal point for both casual and elegant outfits.
Dimensions: 16 x 23mm, pottery fragment diameter 16mm
Metal fittings: Screw-back clip-on earrings (metal fittings cannot be changed)
Weight: Lightweight and comfortable to wear, despite being made from pottery fragments.
As each piece is a one-of-a-kind creation, it makes for an ideal gift.
They are also perfect as a present for someone special.
*As these are finished one-of-a-kind items, we cannot accept requests for changes to the metal fittings or for re-production.
*We will send the item pictured. However, if it has already sold on another site, it may be made to order. In such cases, please note that there may be individual differences in the color, pattern, and size of the pottery fragments and natural stones compared to the photo.
*"Kintsugi" is a traditional Japanese repair technique that mends broken or chipped pottery using lacquer and gold powder. This piece uses a modern, simplified kintsugi technique. Unlike traditional kintsugi which uses sap from the lacquer tree, this method uses adhesive for bonding. The kintsugi portions are made with lacquer (a manufacturer-created paint, not raw lacquer) and gold powder (brass powder, pearl powder), with UV resin also used for reinforcement.
