**When we are willing to spend a little time repairing and maintaining, we are also extending the time each garment accompanies us.**
Have you ever encountered situations like:
- A favorite shirt’s button came loose, but you didn’t know how to sew it back on?
- A coat button is about to fall off, but you worry it won't be securely sewn?
- A hook and eye on a skirt came undone, and you constantly worry it might suddenly open while wearing it?
- You bought needles and thread but didn’t know where to start learning?
Many fastening issues on clothing can be resolved with simple hand-sewing techniques.
This course centers on **"practical mending skills for everyday life."** No prior sewing experience is needed. Starting with threading a needle and tying a knot, it guides students in building fundamental mending abilities, learning to care for their own clothes, and allowing cherished garments to accompany them for longer.
In this class, you will learn:
1. Introduction to Basic Sewing Tools
- An overview of common hand-sewing tools
- How to choose different needles and threads
- Techniques for using a seam ripper
2. Fundamental Hand-Sewing Skills
- Threading a needle
- Using single and double threads
- Tying knots and finishing threads
3. Fastening Repair Techniques Most Commonly Used in Daily Life
- Four-hole/two-hole buttons
- Shank buttons/covered buttons
- Snaps
- Hooks and eyes
- Bar tacks (thread shanks)
4. How to Apply Mending Skills to Everyday Garment Care, understanding the suitable contexts for different fasteners, such as:
- Loose buttons on shirts
- Reinforcing buttons on coats
- Repairing hooks and eyes
- Installing and replacing snaps
Students can take the class at their own convenience. If you have any questions or uncertainties during your learning process, you can ask with confidence. You can also request the instructor to demonstrate again without hesitation, as you don’t need to worry about delaying other students in a group class. These concerns are all addressed in a one-on-one private session!
Within the 1.5-hour course, the instructor will guide students step-by-step through all techniques. You will complete practice samples in class and can ask questions at any time. We hope every student with a desire to learn can acquire practical sewing skills for daily life with peace of mind and enjoyment!
**Note: As the content and communication require a certain level of understanding, we currently only accept students aged 15 and above. If a student under 15 wishes to attend, please message us first to discuss.**
This course focuses solely on basic hand-sewing techniques. You will create a practical sample during the class, which can serve as a reference for future self-practice.

In-Person Class Attendance and Registration Policy (Effective January 1, 2026)
I. Registration and Class Arrangement Principles
In-person classes are open for registration based on **time slots released monthly** and have a final registration deadline (2 days prior to the class).
Upon successful registration and confirmation, your course slot will be reserved, and related teaching and work schedules will be arranged. **Rescheduling, make-up classes, or transferring of spots are not permitted, nor can they be converted to other class formats.**
Students must **confirm their availability for the entire course duration prior to registration**; if the timing is not feasible, please choose another class session to be released in the future.
II. Cancellation and Refund Policy
If a student needs to cancel their registration due to **personal reasons, please submit the cancellation request at least 7 days before the class (inclusive)**. **A 20% administrative fee will be charged**, and the remaining balance will be refunded. The administrative fee applies regardless of the reason for cancellation or how early it is made.
**Cancellations made within 7 days prior to the class (excluding the 7th day), or no-shows on the day of the class, will be considered forfeiture of the course slot, and no refund will be issued.**
III. Scope of Applicability for Cancellation Reasons
Personal reasons include, but are not limited to: **scheduling conflicts, last-minute work arrangements, feeling unwell, forgetting to use discounts/points/store credit, not paying attention to class time and content, operational errors, change of mind, etc.** All these instances are subject to the above cancellation and refund policy.
IV. Class Conduct and Attendance Regulations
To ensure course quality, **no observers are allowed**. If family or friends accompany you, please wait in a nearby cafe or convenience store until the class concludes.
As each student's understanding and progress may vary, please arrive on time to avoid impacting the class schedule and teaching rhythm. If you anticipate being late due to special circumstances, please contact the instructor in advance.
**Tardiness exceeding 30 minutes will be considered a no-show for the day. The class will be considered completed, and no make-up class or refund will be provided.**
**Recording is prohibited** during the class.
V. Language and Fee Information
If English instruction is required, please note this in your registration in advance.
Tool and material fees are to be paid on the day of the class. Atelier Llewellyn is a studio that does not issue VAT receipts and will provide a receipt to students.
VI. Force Majeure
In the event of typhoons or other force majeure circumstances, we will follow the government's announced standards for class suspension. Atelier Llewellyn will proactively contact students to coordinate subsequent class arrangements.
VII. Other Information
Atelier Llewellyn reserves the right to adjust course content and teaching arrangements.
Completing the registration signifies that the student has read, understood, and agreed to the above course regulations.
