He named this frog after George Swinhoe, a former British consul and zoologist in Taiwan, to commemorate Swinhoe's contributions to the study of Taiwanese species. Swinhoe's Frog can be found in mountain streams within broadleaf forests. It is a large frog, measuring approximately 6 to 10 centimeters in body length. Its dorsal coloration varies widely, appearing in green, brown, or a mix of both.
