"Hong Kong cartoonist Liu Guangcheng's first French publication "Fantaisie Ordinaire" is officially released!
Originally arranged and painted by Liu Guangcheng, Amsterdam musician Victor Butzelaar was invited to compose the music. The whole book replaces the narrative with the music score, echoing the rhythm of the development of the picture.
Liu Guangcheng tried to tell this ordinary story with his changeable picture composition and framing angle, in line with his unique style of painting-in a peaceful day, a man and a woman met somewhere; from the leisurely appearance of the man to the waiting, and then Transition to women’s preparations for appointments-the gradually accelerating rhythm brings an increasing sense of tension, and then ushered in the ending in an instant...Readers listen to the soundtrack while reading the pictures, experience the heart-beating story with rich music, and feel a different way of reading comics .
Extending the "Fantaisie Ordinaire" with both graphic and musical features, allowing a crowd of comic fans to devote themselves to the atmosphere carefully created by the creators, the Hong Kong Arts Center (anime base) held an exhibition of comic manuscripts and released new books. This book and the exhibition meet with Hong Kong readers simultaneously.

[About Liu Guangcheng]
He lived in Kyoto, Japan as a child, so his early works were deeply influenced by the local manga culture. After returning to Hong Kong, he studied the Department of Fine Arts of The Chinese University of Hong Kong. He also published and serialized more than ten short comics on different platforms, such as "Man Dao" and "Ani-Wave". After participating in the French Angoulean International Comics Festival with the Hong Kong Arts Center in 2017, his creative direction changed drastically. He often creates with pencils, using his brushstrokes to emphasize the atmosphere; explores the possibility of using comics as a medium of expression, and tries to deconstruct and reorganize "comics".
Comic works include "Cube Escape: Paradox" in collaboration with Rusty Lake in the Netherlands, and "The Lost Hong Kong" published in Taiwan. "Cube Escape: Paradox" was sold globally and received great acclaim. Among them, 100 limited editions were sold out four hours after the launch. The new comic book "Fantaisie Ordinaire" is a collaboration with the Amsterdam musician Victor Butzelaar. This year it was launched by French publishing house Patayo Éditions in Europe and Hong Kong simultaneously. In addition to comics, he is also devoted to animation creation, and has created more than ten animation short films in total to date. Recently, he has focused more on painting works related to social issues, and has also been invited to participate in a number of exhibitions, such as Thailand "Bangkok Through Poster", Hong Kong "Art of Resistance", and France "Éruptions @ Lyon Comic Festival".
