Japan Showa National RS-4400 Cassette Player/Recorder Vintage Antique Electronics - Items for Display - Other Materials Multicolor

Product Description

Japan Showa National RS-4400 Cassette Player/Recorder Released in 1975, with an original retail price of ¥74,800. Features a Super Permalloy LH head, made of nickel-iron alloy. It boasts high hardness and low wear, offering superior durability and sound quality compared to standard heads. Simply put, it's high-quality and built to last. Equipped with a large 16cm speaker, it delivers powerful sound. Typically, you'll only need to turn the volume to around 20% for sufficient listening levels. This unit can also tune into FM/AM radio stations, featuring a 3-gang variable capacitor for precise signal tuning and high reception sensitivity. This results in clean radio audio with minimal interference. The FM stereo multiplex tuner accurately reproduces the "left and right channels" in FM broadcasts. The circuit quality is excellent, providing clear sound without distortion or background noise. It also includes a Limiter circuit to prevent sudden strong signals or interference, ensuring stable radio listening. Please refer to the attached video for a demonstration. You might wonder (as I did) why the radio sounds clear, but there's a difference compared to cassette playback. FM signals have a bandwidth of approximately 15kHz. Under good reception conditions, the sound quality approaches Hi-Fi standards, pre-dating CDs. Cassette tape bandwidth is typically around 40Hz–12kHz, with a higher noise floor than radio. Although this unit is equipped with a high-hardness, quality Permalloy head, the listening experience will still differ due to the limitations of the tape material and playback speed. This concludes the general introduction. For more detailed inquiries, please send a private message. The internal cassette mechanism has been replaced with a new one, ensuring proper playback, rewind, and fast-forward functions. The recording function has not been tested. Includes a power cord; simply plug it in to use. Sold as-is. The unit has cosmetic imperfections as shown in the photos. Should you require repairs after purchase, please feel free to contact us at any time. Dimensions: 40*27*11cm Weight: Approximately 5kg
