As such, this stone is deeply connected to blood and vitality, symbolizing life and inspiring positive feelings about life, and has long been associated with human culture and history. It is also known as the January birthstone. "Silver 925" Silver 925 (also known as sterling silver) is a mixture of 92.5% silver and other metals such as copper. Because 100% pure silver is not durable enough for jewelry, 925 is the most commonly used silver for jewelry. It is also notable that 925 silver as base silver is rarely sold to the general public. Like brass, silver can darken or yellow due to "sulfidation" caused by components in the air. Therefore, wiping it after contact with water or sweat and storing it away from air during everyday storage will help maintain its shine.
