Celine can be considered a master of hardware. In its early days, the brand offered an endless variety of buckle designs, truly pushing the boundaries of creativity. Even now, new and unseen buckle styles occasionally surface in the pre-owned market, offering delightful surprises! Some styles from that era were produced in very limited quantities or were special custom orders, making them known to very few. In its early years, Celine operated more like a niche brand today, with diverse styles and limited production, unlike the large-scale, group-driven production seen now. This beautiful era of "blooming buckles" was unique to its early period (perhaps I was born too late to witness it myself...). This Arch de Triomphe round charm is exquisite. Upon closer inspection, you'll see numerous mini Arch de Triomphe motifs surrounding the central large CELINE Arch de Triomphe! Even this small round buckle exudes a rich texture with incredibly fine detailing, a level of intricacy that modern designs simply don't possess. Some customers might find this style familiar, as I've previously sold a very similar one. The difference lies in the flap: this one features a seam-free flap, unlike the previous model where the entire flap was stitched. The bag body, however, is stitched, giving it a patchwork leather appearance. I've kept one of these for myself; it's the same style, and I use it frequently, even for travel! I'm a genuine user. For those of smaller stature, size is crucial. Even a slight difference in dimensions can significantly alter the on-body appearance. This bag has a charming, compact, squarish silhouette that looks adorable when worn. The flap has two metal rings through which the chain passes, allowing the chain to be repositioned. Don't overlook this detail; its practicality becomes clear during use. When worn crossbody, most people tend to position the bag at the back, near the hip. When you bring the bag forward to open it, the bag and chain typically move together. In most bag designs, the chain is directly attached to the bag, so the chain resting on your shoulder can rub against your clothes as you move. This bag's chain, however, passes through the metal rings on the flap, so when you pull the bag forward, only the bag moves, and the chain doesn't shift with it, preventing friction with your clothing! More importantly, the chain won't rub against the bag's leather due to movement. The bag body is made of lambskin, soft and comfortable to the touch. The front and back of the bag show no obvious scratches, scuffs, or peeling. The stitching is firm with no loose threads. It has a natural patina. The bottom, edges, and corners are free from any scratches, scuffs, or peeling. Even the corners show no wear! The leather has a light sense of use, visible as fine textures upon close inspection, which is a natural occurrence with use. The hardware where the chain passes through and the chain itself show signs of wear, with some slight gold loss on the edges due to oxidation, but this is not noticeable when worn. These details are only apparent upon close inspection. The interior lining is clean, with no peeling, powdering, or aging issues. The small interior pocket zipper is smooth. The interior brand tag is intact. The key feature, the Arch de Triomphe round charm on the front, has exceptionally clear and detailed engraving, with many mini Arch de Triomphe motifs encircling the large one. The craftsmanship is exquisite, and the gold tone is rich, with no significant oxidation or gold loss. Overall, the bag is clean, the leather is intact and lustrous, with no obvious flaws. The signs of wear are light, and when worn, it doesn't look old and is very versatile and attractive! This small round charm looks surprisingly good when worn, offering a subtly elegant black and gold aesthetic. I highly recommend this to petite individuals, and I'll elaborate a bit more on the struggles of being petite (this might be a bit longwinded...). The craftsmanship of artisans is undoubtedly much more refined than that of machines, much like how everyone appreciates products handcrafted by artisans! Today, the vast majority of processes are automated with minimal human assembly, losing the delicate touch of the past. The simplest and most direct way to see this is by comparing the intricate details of vintage monogram patterns with the newer "revival" monogram patterns from recent years. The level of detail in the monogram patterns alone is vastly different. If you love monograms, you should definitely look for pre-owned items! Truly! In terms of style, older eras favored simple, timeless, and enduring designs. Many modern styles are actually reproductions of older designs. However, new items are priced higher than their vintage counterparts. New designs are typically based on older models, with added details or altered designs. The final product often ends up being more complex (or peculiar...) than the original older models. As we grow older, we realize that simplicity endures! As we age, our clothing choices often return to basic styles because the more fundamental, the more versatile. The quality of materials in older items is superior to newer ones. If you understand leather, you'll notice that the materials used in new items are generally of a lower grade than in older ones. This is mainly because the cost of high-quality raw materials is too high now, and their availability is limited, as global resources are dwindling! Furthermore, brands back then didn't have the ubiquitous presence they do now, with stores everywhere. Their clientele typically had a certain level of income and high expectations for the finished product. There was no "fast fashion culture" back then; a bag was expected to last the customer many years. The difference between new and old eras is clearly visible in the hardware. Many new items' hardware oxidizes and discolors after just a year or two, but vintage pieces typically do not. Besides the use of high-quality materials and meticulous techniques, hardware from earlier eras was often plated with genuine K gold! It's worth mentioning that Chanel Vintage is expensive for a reason; many of its buckles and chains contain real gold, certified by gold merchants! This is why, even for vintage bags from the 60s and 70s, the hardware can still gleam today if well-preserved. Among the new items available now, to my knowledge, none of the hardware contains K gold, making them prone to oxidation. Many say that buying vintage bags is a form of alternative investment, as they rarely depreciate and often appreciate in value. During such periods, many people will frantically search for that style or a similar alternative, causing the prices of those few items to multiply exponentially... Therefore, with vintage, it's truly a case of "buy early, enjoy longer; buy late, pay more" (this isn't an advertising slogan... it's a truth in the pre-owned world...). This is based on my personal experience; I regret not acquiring certain collections earlier, and now they are either impossible to find or come with an astronomical price tag... But the problem is, even knowing the price is exorbitant, you're compelled to buy because waiting will only mean higher prices (unless the condition is poor).
