Japan Ukiyoe - Fox of Nine Tails/ plate

In myth, when a fox acquired magical powers, it grew nine tails and became immortal. (The number nine represents longevity). This work is inspired by Utagawa Kuniyoshi’s prints of the Nine-Tailed Fox (which is the guardian deity to Shinto Shrines dedicated to Inari, the God of Rice).
