About Malacca Agarwood:
Malacca agarwood is also known as Indonesian agarwood. Near the coast of Sorong on the island of Irian in the Indonesian archipelago, it is also called Sorong agarwood. This region is low-lying and predominantly marshy. It typically yields large pieces of agarwood, often found buried in soil, water, or swampy areas along the shore. Much of it is aged material long submerged in marshes, which weathers and dries over time. While the surface aroma might be subtle, the internal fragrance is exceptionally intense, characterized by a rich scent with a strong hint of traditional Chinese medicine. The term "Malacca" is a phonetic transliteration from the local Indonesian dialect for this area. Agarwood collected by traders in this region, including Sorong, is bought and sold through Malacca, naturally leading to it being named after the location.
Agarwood from Malacca is considered a noble variety. It is celebrated for its superior quality, with abundant oil deposits appearing yellow-brown to earth-yellow, an exceptionally thick oil content, and a unique, rich fragrance. Due to prolonged immersion in marshy environments, the wood of Malacca agarwood often becomes soft. It rarely sinks in water or exhibits dark oil. While its oil density is good, the wood density is not. The reasons behind its rarity in sinking or yielding dark oil, despite good oil density and poor wood density, are related to its formation patterns and the principles of its resination. Upon the first whiff, one might feel instantly refreshed and at ease, aiding in the balance of the body's chakras. Consequently, many individuals use this type of agarwood to enhance sleep or aid in meditation.
Aroma Profile:
Classic and standard agarwood scent.
How to Light:
Insert the incense stick into an incense holder. Light the tip with a lighter, then gently blow out the flame, allowing the ember to continue burning.
Usage Duration:
There is no set duration. Some believe incense should not be burned at night. However, consider that scented oils, perfumes, body washes, and sprays all carry fragrances. Ultimately, your state of mind is paramount. When the mind is free from attachments, there is no fear, and all illusions are dispelled.
Usage Location:
There are no restrictions; suitable for any room or office.
Amount to Use:
The amount depends on your personal needs. It is recommended to use it as a form of aroma appreciation, with purification being a beneficial secondary effect.
