Phra Sao Chai Sri (Phra Pang Nak Prok)
Special Nine-Metals Alloy, Size 2.5 CM
Created in 2012 at Wat Phra Si Maha That Bang Khen
"Nak Prok" refers to a Buddha image in a meditative posture, with a Naga (mythical serpent) extending its hood from its shoulders to shelter the Buddha's head. There are two styles of Nak Prok: one where the Buddha sits on the coiled Naga, and another where the Buddha sits within the Naga's coils, with the Naga encircling the Buddha's body up to the shoulders, protecting it from wind and rain, according to legend.
In addition to being the Buddha image for those born on Saturday, it is revered by people seeking relief from physical pain and suffering, and liberation from illness.
