The Seediq people traditionally lived in agricultural and hunting societies, guided by their ancestral laws known as Gaya, alongside a strong sense of community. For men, proving their capability to protect the tribe involved successfully returning from a headhunting expedition. For women, mastery of weaving was essential, symbolizing their ability to manage the household and care for their families, ensuring their souls could return to their ancestors after death. Their woven textiles feature horizontal stripes, representing the rainbow bridge to the spiritual realm, primarily in deep red and black, symbolizing blood and strength. The main ceremony was the headhunting festival, conducted not only against enemies but also during planting and harvest rituals, to pray for abundant yields and express gratitude for the ancestors' blessings and protection.
