In the 1960s, a vast array of "Made in Hong Kong" products not only filled our daily lives but were also extensively marketed overseas.
The promotional booklet from the "Hong Kong Chinese Manufacturers' Exhibition" (工展會), organized by local Chinese-owned enterprises, showcased advertisements from various industries and their products in 1961. These items were diverse in style and were exported to regions and countries like Southeast Asia, Europe, and America.
Although these advertisements from over sixty years ago predate the widespread popularity of product photography, most feature hand-drawn illustrations and lettering. They highlight the creativity and distinctiveness of the products, reflecting the aesthetic design of the era. Furthermore, they reveal the historical presence of different types of factories distributed across various local communities.
