Crafting Process:
Starting with a sketch, the clay is shaped and then allowed to dry slightly before repeated refinements. We create enough pieces to fill the kiln evenly over about a month. Bisque firing takes 7 hours, after which each piece is wiped with water and individually glazed before a 12-hour glaze firing. Some pieces receive a gold glaze and are fired again for 7 hours. Due to the need for slow cooling, we wait about two days after each firing before removing them from the kiln. Finally, each piece is inspected, and the pins are attached to the finest ones. Currently, our success rate is around 70%.
While this process requires considerable time and effort, the result is a decorative brooch that combines the tactile warmth of clay, the durability of ceramic, the luster of the glaze, and the sparkle of gold accents.
We hope this piece will be cherished for years to come.
