Founded in 1815, the founder was John Doulton.
In 1887, Henery Doulton, the son of the founder, was awarded a knighthood by Queen Victoria, becoming the first British potter to be knighted. In 1901, Doulton was selected as the royal tableware by King Edward VII, and was renamed as "Royal Doulton", which is well known in cash. In 1966, it once again received the British Royal Certification Mark.
