Product Description

Life flows on, simply and beautifully. Brew a pot of fine tea, pour it into the tea sea, and time seems to pause. The aroma fills the air, a moment of quiet grace in the slow passage of years. This wood-fired tea sea, with its golden hues and ash glaze, is a fusion of opulent beauty and rustic charm, designed for a clean, decisive pour. Capacity: Approx. 300cc In 2023, two artists from Xiaopingfan Pottery, Chen Shiping and Wang Yufan, had their works selected for excellence awards at the 5th Shanghai International Wood-Fired Ceramic Competition. Your support is our driving force for continued creation. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341561855_249c0591a6_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341437984_c608c50771_c.jpg 2023 Media Interview: A Complete Record of Xiaopingfan Art's Lean Startup Journey https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341329978_bb6984d457_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341561785_f553253a82_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/53341329968_8834731df8_c.jpg The works from Xiaopingfan Pottery are not mass-produced. Each piece is born from a unique concept and design, imbued with life through the delicate process of hand-pinching or wheel-throwing. Every creation is truly one-of-a-kind. Our pottery is a collaborative effort between my husband and I, hence the signatures "Ping" or "Fan," and some pieces feature the "Xiaopingfan Pottery" seal. Each one is inimitable! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567264550_68d52fdae8_b.jpg **1. What is the origin of the works?** We primarily use American clay, Japanese clay, and Taiwanese Miaoli clay for our creations. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567015014_0b15931da0_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51565549942_7663197885_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567015039_4c2a9b80e3_c.jpg **2. What is the wood-firing process?** American clay, Japanese clay, and Miaoli clay are mixed in various proportions. The forming process is purely hand-pinched (not using a pottery wheel), slowly shaping the piece. After the basic form is achieved, the lines of the body are refined, followed by polishing to complete the greenware. Once loaded into the kiln, the wood-firing process using natural longan and acacia wood lasts for five days and four nights, continuously reaching temperatures over 1200 degrees Celsius. During this time, natural ash falls onto the works, forming a special ash glaze. Simultaneously, the fire patterns within the kiln flow across the pieces, creating beautiful orange-red or blue-purple flame marks. After five days and four nights of ash and fire patterns intertwining, a week of cooling is required before a piece attains its beautiful form! Because the kiln atmosphere differs with each wood-firing, the ash deposits and fire patterns on each piece are never the same, making every creation unique! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567015104_1eec785177_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51567264535_7bd0037e60_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51565533012_fdce6d65a3_h.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51566346721_2b98f539f8_c.jpg **3. What should our esteemed guests be aware of?** Product colors may vary slightly due to photographic lighting. As the works are entirely handmade, traces of the maker's touch are inevitable. Minor variations may also occur during the firing process; slight imperfections in the rim or small production scratches are considered normal and do not affect usability. We appreciate your understanding! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51565533097_13ea71a377_c.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51565533012_219eca4133_c.jpg **4.
