✨✨The origin of Precious Moments in the United States✨✨
Mr. Samuel J. Butcher, the original creator of Precious Moments, was born in Jackson, Michigan on New Year's Day in 1939. He grew up in a poor family. When he was a child, Sam loved painting under the dining table. And his talent has long been recognized by his family and many friends. In his childhood, what Sam still remembers most are the Bible stories told to him by his mother-in-law. Although he is not very old, this really made him have a deep love for faith. He became very interested in the things he painted and looked for subjects for painting from the Bible.
In 1974, Sam drew the first picture of Precious Moments, and in 1975, he officially presented Precious Moments to the world. Initially, Sam Butcher used his paintings of googly-eyed dolls to bring the slightest comfort to frustrated families. Because these delightful figures exude love, care and sharing, Sam Butcher calls them Precious Moments.
In 1978, Enesco Chairman Eugene Freedman first saw Sam Butcher figures in a small series of greeting cards, and he considered the possibility of transforming these drawings into three-dimensional figures. So Eugene Freedman brought the greeting card to Japan to his friend and sculptor Yasuhei Fujioka. With Fujioka-san's amazing creativity and talent, he finally created the first ceramic doll "Love One Another" for Precious Moments. Sam Butcher was ecstatic when he saw this figure, and so were the Precious Moments collectors.
In 1979, Precious Moments launched the first twenty-one ceramic dolls (Original 21) with the theme of true love and encouragement. This series quickly occupied a place in the collectors' market. To this day. Precious Moments has been made into thousands of ceramic figures, conveying the same message as ever and touching millions of people around the world.
It usually takes five to seven days to create a Precious Moments ceramic doll, and each craftsman has received extensive skills training - from carving to oiling. It took them three years to master the production method of "tear eyes". This is the most important, labor-intensive and difficult part of the entire doll. It is also the inspiration behind Sam Butcher's original creation of Precious Moments; however, there is another point that is even more important. Yes, this is why Precious Moments is highly praised by collectors.
