Hetian Jade is one of the two recognized jade types in gemology, belonging to nephrite. Its texture is fine and lustrous, with a smooth, oily feel. Chemically, it's a silicate of calcium, magnesium, and iron, with a hardness of 6-6.5. Variations in elemental composition result in different colors, with white jade being the most representative of green Hetian Jade. Revered since antiquity, Hetian Jade was popular among royalty during the Qing Dynasty and considered a treasured gem.
