We created this gerbera by weaving glass beads from the Czech Republic (Bohemia), which boasts a long history of traditional glass craftsmanship (the small beads around the core are primarily Japanese). You can enjoy the profound expression unique to Czech glass. The petals are arranged randomly rather than at equal intervals to mimic the natural look of a real flower. The firm texture achieved through nylon weaving is a unique feature. It is finished in a size slightly smaller than a real gerbera. This piece uses white and mixed white-green Czech glass beads. The hues are reminiscent of the famous "Jadeite Cabbage" sculpture in Taiwan's National Palace Museum. You may find occasional dark streaks or tiny bubbles within the glass (see Images 6 & 7). The highlight of this color: under a blacklight or UV light, the top green petals and the core beads glow in a brilliant yellow-green! This is "Uranium Glass," which uses trace amounts of uranium as a coloring agent to create a mystical fluorescence. This was very popular before WWII. A must-have for Uranium glass fans.
