[ Taiwan's Seven Classic Train Stations Commemorative Bookmarks ]
The wheels of time turn ceaselessly, never pausing for anyone. The cherished classics of yesteryear are often only remembered through books and archives. While we live in a convenient, mobile era, the profound beauty of the past struggles to be felt through digital mediums. Following the threads of history, we return to the railway stations, the heart of human connection and emotion. The scenes of joy and sorrow witnessed there leave us with lingering reflections. The evolution of these stations mirrors the relentless progress of time. Even by modern standards, the artistic achievements of these historic structures transcend many contemporary designs. We translate this sentiment into daily life and reading, hoping to preserve this feeling within the grand sweep of history. This collection features commemorative bookmarks of Taiwan's seven classic train stations: Keelung, Taipei, Hsinchu, Taichung, Chiayi, Tainan, and Kaohsiung. Each bookmark set includes a postcard and an envelope. The postcard details the station's historical development, features a hand-drawn illustration, and includes a poem. The envelope allows you to send a piece of this history to a friend.
[ Taipei Station ]
Taipei Station was established on July 5, 1891. It has undergone four reconstructions. The bookmark design depicts the third-generation station, completed in 1941, and renamed "Taipei Station." This building featured a modernist, block-like concrete design and was in use until the late 1980s, when it made way for the railway’s underground expansion. The current, fourth-generation station adopts a design inspired by traditional Chinese architecture, with a single-eaved hip-and-gable roof and a central courtyard. It serves as a crucial underground hub for the Taiwan Railways Administration's West Coast line, Taiwan High Speed Rail, and Taipei Metro, making it the busiest station in Taiwan and a primary transportation nexus for the Greater Taipei area.
