Nature Observation Journal V : Beaded clip-on earrings

I observed a fascinating way of taking shape. It is neither as swift as running, nor as conspicuous as a flower in bloom. It simply repeats the same action, quietly. One unit connects to another; one structural layer supports the next. Over time, it gradually grows into its own unique form. Corals do this. Minerals do this. Plants do this. Even bones do this. Those forms that appear so complex and intricate originate from tiny, simple accumulations. Nature seems to excel at this process. It is in no rush to finish, nor in a hurry to reach the end. It simply keeps growing. Keeps extending. Keeps responding to the traces left by the environment. This piece is constructed through the repeated connection of beads. Starting from the smallest unit, it gradually expands outward. It resembles a living organism in the making, or a preserved record of growth. When worn on the fingertip, it feels as though one is carrying a fragment of nature’s formative process. Changes imperceptible to the naked eye, accumulations gathered over vast stretches of time— all are distilled into a structure that fits within the palm of a hand. Observation notes: It turns out that many beautiful things in this world do not simply appear overnight. Instead, over the course of a long time, they slowly grow into their own unique forms.
