| Original Artwork Introduction |
This piece was created in 1993 as part of Yang Ying-Feng's stainless steel "Dragon and Phoenix Series." It was installed at the entrance of the National Golf Course in Miaoli in 1995. According to the artist's concept: "'The mean and the harmonious lead to the universe being in its rightful place and all things being nurtured.' All things should find their balance, valuing harmony above all, embodying the wisdom and life philosophy of the Chinese people. Harmony, in essence, is unity. Shaped like a modern magnetic tape integrating information and human intelligence, a pair of young dragons and nascent phoenixes with eyes resembling the sun and moon are formed, embodying eternal harmony and stability through structural strength and beauty. The central sphere and pedestal represent the Earth and the cosmos, symbolizing the balanced state of universal life. The entire form extends into a large character '合' (He, meaning unity), signifying the philosophical concepts of 'the unity of Heaven and humanity' and 'the roundness of Heaven and the squareness of Earth.' The overall design symbolizes the ideal of harmony, starting from interpersonal relationships and extending to families, societies, nations, and ultimately, world peace."
