The scent of citrus essential oils, nurtured by abundant sunshine, directly evokes pure and beautiful emotions such as brightness, warmth, joy, and innocence. They are particularly effective in uplifting low spirits and invigorating the senses, filling one with vitality and a sense of life's beautiful energy. The Story Behind the Design: This soap was conceived before the Lunar New Year, and it took three months to craft its descriptive text. The inspiration for this "Fèng Jú Tiē" (奉橘帖) blended essential oil fragrance actually originated from a soy candle I designed for pregnant women. This blend, featuring bergamot, grapefruit, and petitgrain essential oils, is wonderfully fresh and warm—one of my absolute favorite scent profiles. Before the new year, I wanted to create a soap that would transport users back to the carefree days of childhood. Given the "Fèng Jú Tiē" theme, I chose bright and warm colors like red and yellow for the soap's appearance. For the fragrance, in addition to the original bergamot, white grapefruit, petitgrain, and West Indian sandalwood essential oils, I added dried tangerine peel and benzoin essential oils. This creates a scent that is both fresh and bright, with a subtle undertone of tranquility. The citrus family encompasses the innocent, carefree sweetness of sweet orange essential oil, as well as the elegant, refined, and intriguingly floral-citrus notes of bergamot. Bergamot's happiness is a deep, relaxing joy that soothes while empowering. Some say bergamot smells like a "guiding light in the mist," bringing warmth. Perhaps, as its name suggests, it feels like a gentle, compassionate touch from a Bodhisattva's hand. Bergamot and petitgrain are two of my beloved citrus essential oils. Their aromas mature like fine wine over time, evolving with the weather and my mood, always revealing new nuances. I can't help but hold them and inhale them again and again. For the oils, I selected virgin sweet almond oil, peach kernel oil, and hazelnut oil—three exquisite nut oils known for their light texture and easy absorption. Sweet almond oil is often used for infant massage, making these three oils ideal as base oils for aromatherapy with essential oils. Consequently, this soap is also excellent for facial cleansing. The lather is incredibly fine and creamy. When gently lathered, it creates a sensation on the face and body that, combined with the warm, bright citrus essential oil aroma, evokes a feeling of deep relaxation and purity. The story goes: One day, Wang Xizhi received a batch of excellent oranges, harvested before the first frost. As the saying goes, "Good things are meant to be shared with good friends." Wang Xizhi thought of his friend and packed three hundred oranges into a box, sending them via messenger. Attached was a simple note: "Gifting three hundred oranges. The frost has not yet fallen. Not a common bounty." Unexpectedly, this note was preserved and, after more than a thousand years, became a treasure in the National Palace Museum. Ancient people also called oranges "Jú" (桔). The character "Jú" (桔) contains the radical "Jí" (吉), meaning "great fortune and auspiciousness." The spirit of "Fèng Jú Tiē" — Bergamot & Benzoin Soy Candle — is: "Because I like it, I am willing to share it with you, sending you 'Jú' (桔) fortune!" The History of Bergamot: The exact origin of bergamot is unknown; it is believed to have originated in Asia, possibly India. Today, it is extensively cultivated in Southern Italy, Sicily, and the Ivory Coast, making it a significant economic crop. Its unique name is also intriguing, possibly derived from the Italian city of Bergamo, where bergamot essential oil was first produced. Since the 16th century, bergamot has been used in European herbal medicine as an antibacterial and antipyretic agent. During Napoleon's era, it was a key component of eau de cologne. The distinctive aroma of the beloved Earl Grey tea comes from bergamot essential oil. Furthermore, bergamot's fragrance is highly prized in the perfume industry, an indispensable element in many famous perfume formulas, earning it the nickname "the perfumer's perfume."
