The slightly grayish-white stoneware is adorned with subtle, scattered specks, creating a visually appealing contrast. This yunomi (tea cup) is formed into a pleasingly rounded shape and fired with a clear glaze to accentuate the clay's inherent beauty. The transparent glaze lends a lustrous finish to the piece. A dark brown glaze has been carefully applied to the rim, serving as a refined accent. When cradled in both hands, the cup's gentle curves nestle comfortably in your palms. All stages of creation, from clay preparation and shaping to the bisque firing, glazing, and final firing, are meticulously handled by hand using a small electric kiln and a potter's wheel in my home studio. While mass production is not possible, each piece possesses its own unique character, offering the distinct appeal of handmade craftsmanship. The item you receive will be identical to the one shown in the product images. To ensure the protection of your table surfaces, the base of the cup has been smoothed with sandpaper. Please note that the color may appear more grayish in the soft light of morning or on an overcast day, and more of a greige tone in the direct light of midday, evening, or indoor lighting. For this reason, all our ceramic wares undergo a water-sealing treatment using a food-safe sealant prior to shipping, eliminating the need for a preliminary soaking (mejime). This sealing process requires 2-3 days, which is why we allocate 5 days between order placement and shipment. If you prefer not to have the water-sealing treatment applied, please inform us at the time of purchase. - The characteristics of the glaze may cause the cup to appear whiter under morning light or white artificial light, and exhibit warmer reddish or yellowish tones under evening light or warm-toned lighting. - Cutlery shown in the product images is not included. - While we strive to capture the most accurate representation of the product in our photographs and edits, please be aware that colors may appear differently depending on your monitor settings and ambient light conditions.
