During the Lunar New Year of my childhood, my grandmother would always prepare a dish of mullet roe. Pan-fried with rice wine to bring out its rich aroma, it was thinly sliced and enjoyed alongside a warm hot pot. As I grew older, whenever I tasted mullet roe at wedding banquets or year-end parties, it always brought back the pure, heartwarming happiness of the past. I remember helping a friend buy mullet roe once. Watching the old shopkeeper patiently and skillfully pack each piece into its box, I felt a sudden wave of deep emotion.
