Friends who collect antiques, they all love discovering its value personally. As for the story of this pocket watch, I won't pretend to be an expert from within Patek Philippe. Collectors can directly inquire with PPOfficial Webpage for all product-related information using our certificate (a quality certification by PP experts established in France in 1900). Of course, we are also happy to exchange insights about this commemorative and rare antique with prospective buyers.
Patek, Phillipe & Cie was founded in 1851. Its predecessor, from 1839-1845, was called Patek, Czapek & Cie. Antoine Norbert de Patek was born in Piaski Szlacheckie, Poland. At the age of 10, he moved to Warsaw. In the torrent of life, he was once a soldier in Poland, then settled in France as a refugee, and in 1839, he moved to Switzerland. In 1839, he began making pocket watches in Geneva with his Czech partner, Franciszek Czapek. Czapek was a Czechoslovak watchmaker of Polish origin.
It wasn't until 1845 that Patek merged with French watchmaker Jean Adrien Philippe, and Patek, Philippe & Cie was officially established in 1851.
Let's look again at the company name on the certificate: Ancienne Manufacture d'Horlogerie Patek Philippe & Cie. SA. This was the name after PP went public in 1901. Under the influence of consumerism, luxury brands are taken for granted as sacred. Looking solely at Patek's journey, it's clear that endurance and perseverance are indispensable to becoming a successful brand steward.
