It is a nylon rope that meets U.S. military Mil-C-5040H standards and was widely used during World War II. We use TYPE III 550 paracord, constructed with 32–36 nylon sheath strands and 7–9 inner core strands. The sheath supports 200 lbs, each inner strand supports 50 lbs, resulting in a total tensile strength of about 500 lbs (≈249 kg). Why nylon? It’s extremely durable and resistant to water and mold. Long-term use won’t cause mildew or stubborn stains.
