■ Artist's Story: Lin Hsing-yueh was born in Taichung in 1939. He was inspired by Yang Chi-tung during his high school years, focusing on landscape sketching. After graduating from the Fine Arts Department at National Taiwan Normal University, he furthered his studies in painting in Europe.
In the 1970s, his painting style leaned towards surrealism, employing mystical colors to depict objects like the sun, moon, and animal bones that transcend life, death, and time. After 1980, his creative themes shifted to interpreting Taiwan's natural landscapes. Through personal journeys to high mountains, river valleys, and swift streams, he brought his observations into his paintings, pioneering a creative style that was both magical and imbued with abundant primal energy.
