Chimmuwa handwovens originated from the Thai-Myanmar border. The Karen villagers in Thailand plant natural cotton with traditional farming methods that are friendly to the environment. After hand-twisting it into cotton threads, the threads are dyed with natural dyes collected from the mountains and forests, and handcrafted with traditional weaving tools. Weaving cloth; Chimmuwa studio trains and employs Burmese migrant women to design and tailor cloth into textured pieces.
