Lapuan Kankurit is a family-owned textile company from a small town in central Finland. It has been run by the fourth generation since its establishment in 1917. It has grown from a small textile factory to a nationally renowned brand. Its exquisite textile technology and beautiful works won it the Finnish Handicraft Award (TAITO-FINLANDIA) in 2014.
Lapuan Kankurit attaches great importance to the use of natural materials and strictly controls the protection of the environment during the development and manufacturing of products. It promotes the diversified use of goods, advocating that everyone can use the same goods according to their own habits and preferences, rather than following a standard approach. For example, the thin blanket that most people use to make the bed can also be used as a tablecloth, and a wool blanket can also be used as a shawl. They believe that good quality textiles, if well preserved, can be used for a long time and carefully collected, rather than being consumables that are quickly eliminated. This concept also thoroughly implements its environmental protection and sustainable brand concept.
In addition to its high-quality feel, Lapuan Kankurit's beautiful, simple but not overly gorgeous design is also one of its attractions. It has long-term cooperation with Matti Pikkujämsä, a well-known Finnish illustrator. The styles include cute animals and restrained and elegant totems, which are finely interwoven on the soft fabric. The bright but not dazzling color scheme is suitable for home furnishings of various styles. It can not only be used as kitchen towels, but also as tablecloths, table mats, towels and other creative uses, which meets Lapuan Kankurit's multi-functional demands for products.
