Each piece is meticulously cut and assembled, striving to seamlessly connect the natural patterns of each shell. The shell pieces exhibit their unique natural grain and color. After manual polishing, they are affixed to a brass tube and coated with a thick layer of transparent lacquer. The joins are visible but imperceptible to the touch. The natural patterns are breathtakingly beautiful and captivating (natural variations; high-quality items shipped randomly). The pen is complemented by components precisely machined from brass, finished with a gray chrome plating. It features a rotating airtight cap and a specially designed flexible clip mechanism. The nib is a German Bock #250 (#6) rose gold steel nib, expertly handcrafted by the artisans at Old Goat into a calligraphic tip capable of producing distinct thick and thin strokes, reminiscent of a brush pen. It offers tactile feedback, allowing for Chinese characters with greater variation in line width, enabling you to express your unique taste. A standard, unmodified straight nib is also available (in four widths: EF, F, M, B). If your handwriting is small or compact, we recommend the EF (Extra Fine) or F (Fine) nib. For the calligraphic nib, it is recommended to start by dip-testing with ink (do not remove the converter installed inside the barrel; this prevents ink backflow into the pen body after dip-testing). This allows you to acclimate to the nib's characteristics. After a period of use, you can then use the converter for filling and writing. 2. The calligraphic nib is an EF nib that has been ground and adjusted to have a curved, arched tip. The variation in line width is not achieved solely by applying pressure, but by the angle at which you hold the pen, utilizing the nib's curvature to create different stroke widths. Hold the pen more upright, and the contact area between the nib and paper is smaller, resulting in finer lines. The more you tilt the pen or apply slight pressure, the larger the contact area becomes, producing broader lines. The ability to write both thick and thin lines depends on your proficiency (each nib has a certain degree of pressure it can withstand; avoid excessive force to prevent damage or misalignment of the nib.
