This process is repeated. The deep brown color comes from the river mud, while the light coffee hue is from the yam extract. The entire sun-drying and yam-steeping process for creating Xiangyunsha silk is complex, involving stages of raw silk refining, steeping in yam extract, drying, repeating the steeping and drying process multiple times, boiling, washing multiple times, boiling again, washing again, boiling once more, drying, mud application, washing, drying, misting, stretching, and finally warehousing. The entire sun-drying process requires three washes, nine boils, and eighteen drying sessions, totaling dozens of steps. The fabric's weave structure influences its sheen. The textured weave means it doesn't possess the high gloss of fabrics like poplin or satin crepe. Instead, its distinct matte texture lends it a more rustic, lively character.
