A necklace crafted by connecting old Indian silver tops, old Chin silver, Mizoram & ancient Carnelian, ancient Quartz, blue mixed antique beads, and more.
The top piece is antique Indian silver, dating from the 19th to early 20th century.
We believe its unique luster will emerge with wear.
The central motif depicts Lord Shiva (referred to as the Bell God).
(Top dimensions: 2.3cm length x 1.6cm width, including the loop.)
The small bell next to the top is from the Kuki people, used as ornamentation and an antique item. (It does not ring.)
The plump silver beads beside the top are exceptionally rare old Chin silver, passed down from around the 18th-19th century, originating from Burma.
Traditionally used by Chin women in necklaces, they bear a distinctive wear and endearing marks.
Their weight and presence are incomparable to modern silver (though some modern pieces are also stylish...). These antique beads have seen a significant price increase in recent years.
The orange beads feature distinct striped patterns and are etched Carnelian. Etched Carnelian is created by drawing patterns with plant-derived substances and then firing them.
These pieces date from approximately the 2nd century BCE to the 2nd century CE.
It's truly moving to imagine such delicate patterns being crafted on small beads so long ago!
Their small size only amplifies the astonishment at the exquisite detail and the skill of ancient artisans! This etched Carnelian shows minimal wear on its patterns.
As they are very old, there are some scratches and vertical lines, but they do not affect normal use.
(Etched Carnelian dimensions: 0.7cm length x 0.65cm diameter.)
The slightly darker orange beads are Mizoram Carnelian, passed down from around the 18th century, originating from the Mizoram state in eastern India.
Their uneven coloration gives them a wonderfully expressive quality!
The pale orange beads are ancient Carnelian.
The faceted orange beads are also ancient Carnelian, originating from East Nepal. These are very old stone beads, approximately 2000 years old.
The round ancient Quartz beads come from Pakistan, dating to the Roman era, about 1500 years ago.
While they bear some scratches, these only add to their profound character.
The faceted metal beads are Tuareg tribal beads. The plump, openwork metal beads are from India or Afghanistan.
Nestled between the metal beads, the blue beads are antique beads known as Indo-Pacific beads. The origins of Indo-Pacific beads are traced back to the 2nd century BCE. These particular beads are archaeological finds from Indonesia, dating an incredible 1000 years ago, from around the 10th century!
Their varied sizes and hues are captivating and endlessly fascinating.
The primary beads used throughout, in a mix of blues, are old Venetian beads that found their way to the Naga tribe in India.
Their truly beautiful color, combined with their translucence, makes their charm even more apparent when held up to the light!
The small charms next to the golden beads and ancient Quartz are old Orissa brass from the Orissa state of India, rare and old beads.
The round charm near the clasp is also old brass from India.
Each tiny Karen silver bead is individually stamped!
It’s mind-boggling to think each one is handcrafted.
The gently curved clasp is also Karen silver.
