It is an endangered species. Despite the "tiger" in its Chinese name, it resembles a domestic cat in size, weighing about 3-6 kilograms. Key features include a short muzzle, round ears, and a tail approximately 40-50% of its head-body length. Its fur color ranges from grayish-brown to yellowish-brown, adorned with dark brown spots roughly the size of coins on its body, limbs, and tail. Fewer than 600 remain in the wild, primarily inhabiting low-altitude, hilly regions.
