This is what we commonly refer to today as yarn-dyed fabric.
Due to the fabric's robust, stiff texture and sizing, it was particularly suitable for train workers as workwear.
The image displays three common stripe patterns of the time: EXPRESS STRIPE, LIBERTY STRIPE, and HICKORY STRIPE. Although the names differ, they were all essentially used as workwear, without strict occupational divisions.
This piece features the EXPRESS STRIPE fabric, woven with short ends. Its characteristic is that the blue and white stripes are of equal width, and the fabric has white selvedge edges. The overall thickness is 11.5oz-12oz. The reason for recreating this fabric is that it was one of the first to disappear from public view, making it relatively rare according to vintage enthusiasts. Therefore, recreating a rare fabric is key.
The garment is set during the fabric rationing period of World War II, inspired by railroad worker stripe pants. It features electroplated black copper tack buttons, no rear pockets, and a substantial drape when worn.

- Listing Summary
- Do the interwoven stripes of deep blue and white conjure an image in your mind? As America's most iconic fabric, it represents a symbol of a generation of working-class people, closely associated with attire for railroad workers, lumberjacks, and carpenters. Its origins can be traced back to the period between 1865 and 1920, distinct from the WABASH method of the same era.
