Quell the Souls - Rainbow Bridge Satin Drawstring Bag The Theme of Quell the Souls - Rainbow Bridge: Wushe Incident - Drawstring Bag ◤ Story Behind the Design ◢ "Quell the Souls" is a series of creations by Shao Wei, exploring Taiwanese history often omitted from textbooks. The aim is to remember fragmented histories and transform heavy events into gentle stories, fostering wider understanding and appreciation. "Rainbow Bridge" depicts the 1930 Wushe Incident. The soul guide—Sisin, the ancestral bird that believes in the rainbow—carries cold cherry blossom petals and places them on the heads of fallen warriors. On the petals are written: "ハヤクコウサンスルモノハコロサナイ" (Those who surrender quickly will not be killed). After being suppressed by the Japanese army's poison gas, the Seediq people, suffering from the toxic fumes, decided to end their lives. However, suicide was contrary to the spirit of indigenous warriors.
