The Story of Shuo Coffee A Dream Sparked by the Aroma of Coffee at Home When I was young, the place I spent most of my time was the coffee shop my maternal grandfather owned. Back then, I didn't understand what "specialty coffee" was. I just knew that whenever my family gathered, surrounded by the aroma of coffee, it felt so warm and grounding. My maternal grandfather was a successful businessman. However, after my grandmother passed away, he resolutely decided to close his company and open a coffee shop in his hometown. It wasn't for profit, but to give our family a chance to reconnect. He often said, "There are no shortcuts in doing things, but there are always key principles. Build a solid foundation and grasp the essentials, and you'll learn faster and work more steadily." This saying became the philosophy that guided my later learning and teaching. A Journey of Self-Study and Practice So, I began to learn obsessively. I delved into it myself, sought advice from everywhere, and visited over 80 coffee shops across Taiwan. I participated in competitions, pursued further education, obtained certifications, including the SCA international barista certification, and started to explore teaching. Later, I began conducting corporate training and giving university lectures. More and more students asked me, "I want to learn about coffee, but I don't know where to start." The Birth of Shuo Coffee I realized that many people have passion but lack a suitable starting point. This is precisely why I founded Shuo Coffee. The character "鑠" (Shuo) originally means to smelt metal. It symbolizes the refinement of skills and the accumulation of taste. At the same time, it represents self-adherence and innate radiance, like gold. We insist on using premium ingredients, and every recipe is crafted with 80% less sugar, solely to reveal the purest layers of flavor in the ingredients.
