Korean Traditional Folk Painting Cat Artist - Long Postcard - Cards & Postcards - Paper

Product Description

Postcard Size: 175mm x 115mm When visiting Korea, you've likely explored historical sites like Gyeongbok Palace, Changdeok Palace, Bukchon Hanok Village, and Insadong, appreciating the traditional Korean motifs and architectural designs. Have you ever encountered furniture with such intricate details? Featuring delicate hand-painted patterns, exquisite woodwork, and traditional Korean blue and red cushions. Hyejin's motifs depict playful kittens, embodying the ubiquitous presence of cats in our lives. It's wonderful that cats have been with us throughout history. When hung on the wall, they become the most charming cat artworks. We hope you'll find a sense of leisurely contentment in these artworks, shared with the cats. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923122_7fa4da2c9f_c.jpg Hyejin's cats diligently keep her company as she creates, and we can bring these beautiful moments into our lives. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791102220_ba02803a86_c.jpg Framed, these become the perfect piece of home decor. The postcard size offers endless possibilities – use them as greeting cards or display them as charming art pieces. We recommend collecting a few to create a beautiful display. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791102245_abb81a4ae9_c.jpg The SEA ice team proudly presents hand-painted art by Korean artist Hyejin. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791026263_4b1f2dab16_b.jpg There's a small story behind why we decided to represent this brand. Towards the end of 2024, just as we were preparing to fly to Korea for a meeting, a lockdown was suddenly announced. Fortunately, it was lifted just before our flight, and we safely arrived in Korea. However, we soon found ourselves trapped in a subway car. Protesters were flooding the platforms, and the crowd pushed us, making it difficult to breathe and move. We were practically airborne. We kept thinking, "What do we do? Will this turn into a stampede?" We encouraged each other to stay calm, find ways to breathe, keep our heads up, and most importantly, stay balanced to avoid falling. Thankfully, after a few stops, the dense crowd disembarked at Yeouido Station, leaving us shaken and in tears. A few stops later, we exited the subway and unexpectedly stumbled upon Hyejin's exhibition. The cats' languid and serene postures instantly calmed the turbulent storm we had just experienced. We, who were lost and frightened, felt as if we had firmly returned to solid ground. It truly made us feel, from the bottom of our hearts, how wonderful it is to have cats in this world. Hyejin's cat artworks are such treasures. And so, this unexpected partnership came to be. 🤍 https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791025978_c361304614_c.jpg Hyejin's style blends modern aesthetics with traditional Korean techniques, developed through slow, deliberate creation and hand-painting. We are deeply fond of the nostalgic, retro feel in her works, which strongly evoke the folk painting scrolls of Korea's Joseon Dynasty. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923222_46ac7b4975_c.jpg Every stroke meticulously renders exquisite details, creating artworks that invite prolonged admiration. Creating art with traditional Korean techniques requires immense patience. The artist applies color layer by layer with delicate precision, achieving rich textures and deep, saturated hues. Even the small butterflies and grasshoppers are rendered with exquisite detail and soul. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791008469_5cfdb8271f_c.jpg Each painting captures the essence of cats sharing our space. The cats' "unhurried" and "quietly companionable" demeanor conveys the artist's intended message. Hyejin frequently holds solo exhibitions in Korea and has been creating art for over a decade. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791102340_09288edf64_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923372_b9e7b97b2c_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923357_30bd7feac8_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54789923327_ebb7b5d094_b.jpg Hyejin primarily uses her own cats as subjects, portraying them with a mischievous yet sharp gaze—capturing their endearing yet spirited personalities. This creates a sense of both contrast and harmony, a perfect fusion of tradition and modernity. By incorporating contemporary styles and characters, she depicts the lives and thoughts of animals within traditional art. She utilizes techniques like 'Gongbi' (meticulous brushwork) and employs Korean paper ('Hanji'), which is less common in the market. This paper lends a warm overall tone to the artwork, while the intricate 'Gongbi' lines add exquisite detail. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/54791008479_1a3b230ced_c.jpg This warm feeling and unique combination allow contemporary painting styles to integrate seamlessly.
