For writing with a calligraphy nib, it is generally recommended to dip it in ink and allow it to condition for a period before using a converter. 2. If ink flow is interrupted when using a converter, check your grip angle; ensure both iridium points are simultaneously contacting the paper, not writing on one side. If ink flow is still interrupted, check if paper fibers or debris are lodged in the nib slit. 3. Remove the converter and try filling ink directly from the reservoir. 4. Clean the nib. If you are writing with one iridium point consistently, or applying excessive pressure, it can cause misalignment of the iridium points, leading to scratching and paper debris accumulation in the slit. 5. The calligraphy nib is an EF nib adjusted to have a curved tip. Line width variation is achieved not by pressing down, but by adjusting the pen's angle. Hold the pen more upright, and the contact area between the nib and paper is smaller, resulting in a finer line. The more the pen is tilted, the larger the contact area, producing a broader line. Achieving varied line widths depends on your dexterity and skill. The custom-tuned titanium nib is a special titanium nib specially requested from the German manufacturer by Old Goat, engraved with the 3952 Jade Mountain LOGO. Its flexibility is softer and more elastic than a standard titanium nib, but it is more challenging to control. The custom-tuned nib's softness can tempt users to apply pressure. If the user's technique is not adept or they haven't familiarized themselves with the custom-tuned nib's characteristics, it can lead to a temporary separation between the nib and feed, interrupting ink flow and causing skips. If the user's writing angle is off, combined with applying pressure, it can distort the ink channel, hindering smooth ink flow. Therefore, this model, being softer and more elastic, is difficult to control. It is recommended to first become proficient with steel nibs or standard titanium nibs before advancing to this custom-tuned nib.
