This is a paper-mâché Maneki-lion, proudly raising a tiny paw as a representative of the cat family. It possesses the dignified air of the king of beasts, yet sports an endearingly charming expression. It's shaped by adhering countless small, torn pieces of Japanese paper, much like a collage. Every detail, from a single eyelash to the tips of its fingers, is rendered in Japanese paper, making each piece unique. The charm lies in the warmth and handcrafted texture unique to Japanese paper. A Maneki-neko raising its right paw is a symbol of good fortune, believed to invite wealth and wish for good luck. It's popular overseas as a "lucky cat" or "welcome cat." May this Maneki-lion also invite good fortune worldwide! The bell has been treated to achieve an antique finish. (It jingles.) The blue cord is detachable, so feel free to arrange it to your liking. This item will be delivered in a classic, botanical-patterned dedicated box. It makes an excellent gift for longevity celebrations such as 60th (Kanreki), 70th (Koki), 80th (Sanju), or 88th (Beiju) birthdays, as well as for Respect for the Aged Day. We hope you'll welcome this little lion to invite good fortune into your life, whether on your office desk, by the shop register, or as an accent in your entryway.
